For parents who are relatively unfamiliar with the Orton-Gillingham Approach or have a child who has been diagnosed with dyslexia, understanding more about this learning difference and how to help is essential to the student’s success. An introductory training course to learn more about this teaching approach may be helpful for parents who want to support and advocate for their child at home and in school. The Subscriber Course does not require any prerequisites, and offers an initial overview of dyslexia and the Orton-Gillingham Approach.

In the Classroom Educator course, participants dive a little deeper and learn about the fundamentals of the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Additionally, individuals gain a better understanding of the basics of dyslexia, characteristics of a dyslexic learner, procedures for teaching reading and spelling to dyslexic students, and how to administer informal assessments. This Orton-Gillingham training course is offered several times throughout the school year, and it satisfies the coursework requirement with The Orton-Gillingham Academy at the Classroom Educator Level of certification.

For educators familiar with the Orton-Gillingham Approach
