Beyond the Basics will review the Orton-Gillingham Approach and the concepts learned in the Classroom Educator Class. In addition, more advanced morphology including Latin and Greek roots, prefixes and suffixes, and accenting rules targeting advanced decoding will be covered. In addition, elements of contextual reading – vocabulary, fluency and reading comprehension – will be incorporated. Participants will be taught how to administer informal assessment measures and design lesson plans.
This is a 30-hour Orton-Gillingham Academy class. This course, in conjunction with the completed Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator, will satisfy the 60 hours of coursework required by The Orton-Gillingham Academy to achieve The Orton-Gillingham Academy Associate Level certification.
